Issue #85 was released on Sunday 1st May at the end of an incredibly busy news week.

Ryan Carson abandoning Moonbirds, Elon liberating Twitter and Yuga Lab’s disastrous Otherdeed drop all shook up the crypto space. We couldn’t decide which one to feature on the cover - so we chose all three! Blending three completely unrelated stories wasn’t going to be easy.

We spent a long time at the whiteboard until Dudley came up with the revolving planet idea. Amal quickly realised that he would need to create three standalone artworks before connecting them: Ryan Carson milks a pair of owls for everything he can get, Elon (with some help from doge) sets loose a flock of Twitter birds into the Martian atmosphere and the ill-fated Otherdeed auction unfolds.

The result was a space-age, Rick and Morty-inspired design full of tiny details. Any of the scenes could have been a cover in their own right!

Gazette was packed to bursting after such an eventful week. We covered the reaction to Carson’s exit and the carnage around Yuga Lab’s botched drop. Elon’s plans for Twitter went under the microscope and we also exposed the bizarre tale of an “artist” trying to sell plagiarised work for $1.5 million.

This week’s ArtDrop was by DasNeves, a visual artist who works on TV shows and films (including The Hunger Games and Black Panther). ‘Bad Throw’ is one of his earliest works; a mesmerising physics simulation that shows a basketball smashing through glass.
