Cover Story

The Redlion Gazette is the first NFT weekly publication. Each week, we document all the NFT news and global historic events, which we then curate into interesting and educative articles and content.

The covers are all depictions of the news of that week filtered through the lens of many styles of art.

What is ArtDrop?

The ArtDrops are exclusive NFT art commissions that are available for free to ONLY the Redlion Gazette tokens owners of that week. The aim is to highlight good artistic work and ultimately to aspire artists to want to be featured on the ArtDrop.

Week 51 2021 Review

Issue #67 was published on Sunday, December 26, 2021, week 51 of the year. Holiday season it was! The sweet ol’ cover was knitted with love and warmth by Dudly. The holiday week was slow and cozy with degens having retreated to their family and friends to rejoice and celebrate the end of the year. A year ending without bursting the NFT bubble was indeed a reason to celebrate; the dream is still working. A new decentralized organization OpenDao gave users of OpenSea (one of the biggest NFT marketplaces by trading volume) a gift on Christmas. More reasons to celebrate! The concept for the Xmas cover was something we are all familiar with; Christmas sweaters. These “ugly sweaters” are so adorable and remind you of everything good in life. It had been a long while since a cover was created using pixel art. This was a perfect occasion as pixel art imitates a knitted cloth well! The palette we used consists of the most Christmassy colors ever: Santa red, pine tree green, mistletoe gold, and roast turkey brown. We listed down everything that reminded us of crypto and NFTs. “Xmas gif” (pun intended) is surrounded by the most familiar icons in NFTs and crypto: bulls and bears, gas pumps, Ethereum and BTC, crypto charts, BTC pizzas, Larry the Twitter bird, and WGMI (yes, we are). The two other guest appearances are that of $SOS and Axies. True Redlion frens already want this on a sweater! 2021 Christmas and holidays were definitely one of the best in the lives for some of those who risked it all to be in NFTs, and we hope their investments have paid them back many times over. The ArtDrop for issue #67 was “Koi” by the artist Ptite Angèle, who loves creating vector art that are serene and beautiful.
