Cover Story

Extraterrestrial Drop

The gone week was bustling with activity of all sorts. A well-rounded NFT week with a major drop, a major acquisition, and major milking– what more can you ask for?

At the start of the week, we had almost decided that the cover for Gazette 85 would be Ryan Carson’s exit from the Moonbirds project after its success. The NFT community, especially the Moonbirds fanatics didn’t take that so well. We thought that would be the juiciest news, but Elon handed us his beer and went to free Twitter as he had planned, and of course, there was the Otherside Meta drop by Yuga Labs. It all eventually came down to having to depict all 3 major events. It never really is an easy task to tie together 3 totally unrelated events together in an image. With the task at hand, we took to the whiteboard for some ideas. Some bizarre ideas later we struck the planet idea! Dudly presented the idea, got the thumbs up and we were up and about!

After injecting some inspiration from Rick and Morty I set out to create the artwork. It was only a few hours later that I realized it was like making 3 artworks that can stand on their own. A busy extraterrestrial artwork was born at the end of it all, with the Otherside auction, Ryan Carson milking owls, an Elon musk, and Doge doggo letting the Twitter birds free into the Martian atmosphere. Up close you can see a floating canister of gas that has started the fire at the auction. You can see below that even though the 3 artworks are in motion we have done our best to add details(especially on the map) to each stage on the planet.

If you really watch the artwork animation for a few seconds and then turn to your walls you can see them moving– yes, a complimentary acid trip with Gazette 85. We assure you that no drugs were involved in the making of this cover…

We will be back with another cool cover next week frens! Hoping May will be quite eventful for NFTs!
