Greetings from Metaverse
Cover Story
Greetings From Metaverse 👋
This week’s cover is all about sending “Greeting from Metaverse” to everyone looking forward to discovering it or those who are thriving in this space.
The past week was surprisingly slow in NFTs and Crypto, and we were left without a strong subject to use as the theme for our Gazette issue. We waited a little longer to see if anything juicy pops up on Saturday but unfortunately, nothing did. We took to the drawing board to flesh out a “beautiful” cover for issue 80. After a couple of ideas that didn’t grow, we had Red enter the War room to suggest a cover in a postcard style, reading “Greetings from Metaverse”. A cover to send all the daring degens of the Metaverse warm greetings and good vibes from Redlion as we continue to build this space together. This stuck and we set out to do the cover with this theme.
We are constantly trying to push our boundaries using different styles and methods to render our artworks, and this time it was in a 60’s postcard painting style that we had intended. One that will show a landscape of the Metaverse and the beautiful greetings sprawled over it.
Horrifyingly, for me, this didn’t come to fruition as I was struggling to figure out how to draw sci-fi structures and also at the same time trying to figure out how to get the artwork style right. This took a sloppy downturn as I thought it would be best to start painting straight away and building structures on the go as time was not on my side. This I learned my frens was a horrible decision. Not only that I wasn’t able to finish the artwork but also I had a stressful breakdown never like before. I have to say I’m still learning how to work with the limited duration and a tight deadline. Extremely thankful that there is Dudly who knows exactly how to do this and do it well. Before I succumbed to the overall pressure I asked him if he could take over, and boy, take over he did. The rest you can hear in his own wise words…
Dudly:
I came into rescue on Sunday midday and boy oh boy that is really tight time frame even for a cover veteran like me. Luckily, cityscapes are something I have really enjoyed drawing since I was a kid, so maybe we should have decided sooner that I should take over this issue.
Anyways, in the timelapse video above, you can observe 12 hours of restless drawing and systematic process from initial idealizing using many 60s retro-futuristic cities artworks to the final stroke of coloring.
Making Gazettes is about teamwork and nowadays it's really handy that there are two of us dedicated to the cover creation and we can substitute each other.
Hoping the next week will offer us something juicy in NFTs we bid adios frens! See y’all with another cool cover!
