Rise of the Undead


This cover was a tribute to the collection of the moment: Genuine Undead and its mysterious Founder. After many positive interactions with the community on Spaces, we knew that GU was destined for great things.
Genuine Undead’s Founder took the unprecedented step of donating his valuable NATURE PFP to the community wallet, inspiring our cover art in the process. A hooded Founder stands in his underground laboratory with NATURE floating in a test tube, surrounded by monitors showing the other legendary PFPs. With a flick of his hand, the Founder sends NATURE to the community and all the monitors adjust accordingly.
This iconic moment occurred in a Twitter Space when Red was present (you can spot him on a screen next to the Founder). Amal toyed with the idea of Photobashing for this cover before deciding that a painted art style would be more effective. After hours spent painting on his tablet, the design was complete and it was left to Dudly to add finishing touches like the phosphorescent light and the smoke.

Gazette took a deeper dive into the Founder’s dramatic PFP giveaway. It also covered the ongoing speculation around Elon Musk’s “Everything App” and how it might incorporate crypto, why NFT books are the next big trend and how Web3 is helping oppressed women find their voices.
‘Fire and Ice’ by GIMIKS BORN was this week’s ArtDrop. Tapping into Genuine Undead lore it depicts the ageless struggle of Lous and Roys.
