Issue #105 went to mint at the end of a momentous week: The Merge finally happened!
We knew we had to commemorate this historical event but we wanted to do so with a unique twist that got to the heart of what the Merge really stands for: a triumph against the odds. We opted for a suitably grandiose design centred around a coat of arms and a regal crest.
Of course, the cover is also rich in Ethereum imagery. All the major forks are referenced (the crown for Byzantine, flora for Serenity, domes for Istanbul, dragons for Dragon and ice for Ice Age). Pay close attention to the banner at the bottom. The numbers on the left show the Merge’s block number and the digits on the right immortalise the exact moment that it happened in the Unix time system. The particularly eagle-eyed will also spot smaller details like the two kids next to the pandas (degens who went all in on ETH early) and the eggplants that reference…Vitalik’s own, more personal eggplant.
